"Developing Skills For Life"

Many parents have already discovered that martial arts training is one of the most beneficial activities in which your child can participate. A martial arts school is a place where a child can learn self-control, respect, and get in shape, all in a safe and fun environment.

Karate for Kids

Children today have to deal with challenges that are overwheliming. Sadly, it is nearly impossible to shield your children from these ever-present negative influences. But, there is something you can do to help them deal with the many challenges they face. By enrolling your child in our martial arts classes, you'll be helping them learn how to make positive choices. Plus, you'll be giving them a safe place where they can develop the confidence to do what is right.

Through martial arts discipline and positive reinforcement your child will build character as we reinforce the values you teach at home. Our program emphasizes many skills such as concentration, focus, discipline, fitness awareness, and respect for self and others. We build confidence and work to create a supportive atmosphere so that children of all ages and ability level can succeed.

Karate for Teens

Parents today are recognizing that the school systems are not enough. Millions of parents are bringing martial arts,  into their teen's lives to supplement their education. Bullying from their peers, pressure to abuse drugs and alcohol, and adult images in the media and on the internet are just a few of the many challenges teens face.

Teens need strong role models who set a positive example for them to follow. At American Martial Arts our professional staff of caring instructors provide just that. We honestly believe our martial arts instructors are some of the best role models your teen could have.

Experience has shown us that teens respond to our martial arts instructors in a way that no other coach or instructor can match. Because we realize how much our students look up to us, we work hard to set a positive example for them by living the martial arts principles of honesty, integrity, courage, kindness, and self-control.

Carleton University, in a study reported in Psychology Today , found that teens in martial arts have a lower level of anxiety; an increased sense of responsibilty; a decrease in the willingness to take foolish risks; a higher sense of self-esteem; higher level of social inelligence; and were less likely to be radical.

The Life-Changing Positive Benefits of Karate

In our martial arts program, your child will improve their confidence, increase their focus, and develop more self-control. We can say this with confidence because we have personally witnessed the positive effects our programs have provided for youth and teens just like your own.

Here is a short explanation of how our programs teach these valuable Life Skills:

  • Confidence-By learning how to protect themselves, your child will develop confidence in their ability to handle life's challenges. In turn, their improved confidence will give them the courage to say "no" to negative influences.

  • Focus- We will help your child increase their focus by giving them clear goals and showing them how to reach those goals through hard work and being consistent.

  • Self-control-Youth and teens learn self-control in martial arts by learning how important it is to have respect, both for themselves and for others. Martial arts training teaches that in order to get respect, you first have to give it. Once your child learns this important lesson, their self-control will naturally increase.

One of the things parents appreciate most about our classes is the improvement in their child's self-discipline. We have a wonderful staff of patient instructors who love to work with children, but are also very clear about limits. We enforce good rules of behavior in class, and we expect the same good behavior at home and in school.

In addition to the valuable life skills, our program also enables children a way to channel aggression. In fact many health professionals prescribe our school for treatment because of the positive outlet it gives the kids for all their energy. As you can see , our martial arts programs teach so much more than "just kicks and punches."

We help our students develop life skills that will take them far beyond the four walls of our martial arts school-benefits that will last a lifetime. The evidence is conclusive-martial arts training works! There is no other activity that has been proven to bring such a great improvement in the well-being of children. Now just imagine what a difference American Martial Arts will make in your own child's life...

What Parents and Students are Saying

The greatest gift you could and ever have given me is all of your teachings over the years. There is no doubt in my mind that a huge part of who I am is thanks to you and American Martial Arts. I have been in it through all of these vital years of growth and know that I am a much better man...Having been through all that you helped me accomplish than I would've been in any other circumstances. I owe so much of who I am to all of you and I will never forget it. Thanks again, Casey

I really think that you have helped my son reach a turning point in his maturity through his teen years. He has already changed so much since he joined American Martail Arts, as far as his self-esteem and overall attitude go. I truly believe that enrolling him in your school was the best decision we ever made for him. Thank you, Bonnie

I would like to extend my thanks to you and the American Martial Arts program you direct. Currently I have 14 year old grandson, a 13 year old grandson, an 11 year old granddaughter, 5 year old twin grandchildren participating in your Karate program. I enjoy watching all of them as they experience the enjoyment and intensity of this mentally and physically energetic educational program. I notice that the number one concern of the leaders is the building of self-respect, self-esteem, and self-discipline of each AMA candidate. I have watched the emotional as well as physical growth of each of my family members. Especially, I am seeing the ideals of self-improvement extending into other areas of my family's lives. I see pride in their faces as they practice and talk of their accomplishments. I have also noticed that the AMA students have very exact requirements to advance and they are encouraged to practice well and do their best at each session. I am very proud of my family members as well as each of the other students. It is beautiful to watch these students doing their best and often better then their best. Thank you again for your dedication to all who come to your AMA association.-Mrs. Judy Hurst
